Ryan Bulgarelli

D. Ryan Bulgarelli was chosen to be the School of Music's student marshal at the Undergraduate Commencement ceremony held on May 4. Ryan, a B.M.E. student, wasl accompanied by O. Richard Bundy who served as faculty marshal.

From York, Pennsylvania, Ryan is the son of Richard and Wendi Bulgarelli, and was a euphonium student of Velvet Brown. A member of the Schreyer Honors College, he participated in the Symphonic Band, Tuba Euphonium Ensemble, and Blue Band. He served as a section leader and as secretary for the Blue Band, and was a region representative for the Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Educators Association. Ryan is a member of the National Association for Music Education, the Technology Institute for Music Educators, and the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association.

In spring 2013, he was selected through a national competition to receive a full scholarship to attend the Music Technology Leadership Academy in Texas. He was also the recipient of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association 2013 award for "Excellence in Scholarship." This award is sponsored by the Society for Music Teacher Education.

Ryan was the recipient of a Schreyer Honors College Distinguished Scholarship as well as the Philip and Eleanor Prutzman  and Kermit and Hassl Hurtwitz Blue Band scholarships. Ryan recently completed his student teaching experience in the East Stroudsburg School District, where he worked with high school bands, junior high school choirs, and taught general music to 6th and 7th graders.

After graduation, Ryan plans to teach instrumental music at the high school or junior high school levels and to continue to perform on euphonium.
