Daniel J. Shevock, a Ph.D. candidate (ABD) in music education, has recently had two papers accepted for publication in peer-reviewed journals. His historical research, "Satis Coleman: A Spiritual Philosophy for Music Education," will appear in the Music Educators Journal, the primary journal of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). Dan’s phenomenological research study "The Experience of Confident Music Improvising," will be published in Research Studies in Music Education, edited by Kathryn Marsh of the University of Sydney (Australia).
Prior to his entrance into Penn State’s Ph.D. program, Dan taught elementary-high school instrumental and general music in the Pittsburgh public schools. A percussionist, he holds degrees from Clarion University and Towson University.
