Kevin Tutt (B.S. '93, M.M. Conducting '99, Ph.D. '02) has been promoted from Associate Professor to Full Professor at Grand Valley State University (Allendale, Michigan). He serves the university as the assistant chair of the Department of Music and Dance, and conducts the Symphonic Wind Ensemble.
Prior to his appointment at Grand Valley State, Kevin held teaching positions at Brandon University, in Brandon, Manitoba, Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and the Central Dauphin School District in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He has been a guest conductor, clinician and consultant for all levels of ensembles and public school programs in the United States and Canada.
His professional interests include the development of university and public school musicians’ critical thinking skills through ensemble experiences, and the development of reflective teaching practices and conducting techniques in pre-service and in-service teachers. His publications have appeared in the Music Educators Journal, Journal of Band Research, Research Perspectives in Music Education, Visions of Research in Music Education, and Michigan Music Educator, and he has been an invited presenter at numerous regional and national music conferences.
