Lauren Kooistra (Ph.D. '13) has accepted an appointment at the Penn State Institute of Arts and Humanities as assistant director. The post-doc position, awarded by the College of Arts and Architecture, will begin in fall 2013.
The Institute of Arts and Humanities (IAH) supports a variety of programming across the College of Liberal Arts and the College of Arts and Architecture, and seeks to enhance intellectual conversation and interdisciplinary work in the arts and humanities at Penn State. Lauren will assist the director in program planning and committee logistics and also teach one course in the School of Music.
Originally from North Haledon, New Jersey, she received her bachelor's degree in piano performance from Gordon College (MA) and her master's degree in piano performance and pedagogy from Westminster Choir College (NJ). Her major teachers were Alina Polyakov and Ingrid Jacobson Clarfield. Lauren's doctoral dissertation research, The Experiences of Two Young Children in Informal Piano Settings, was guided by Joanne Rutkowski.
