Pardon our Dust!
Welcome to the School of Music website. For returning students you will see a lot of changes to familiar surroundings. Construction on the new recital hall began late spring and as I type this, footings are in place and major construction will begin shortly. As well as the recital hall, you’ll also notice some major changes to Music Building I. This includes the repurposing of Esber Hall to a high-quality rehearsal space, plus new flooring, walls, lighting and windows throughout the building. This will take a year and we will all have to work around these exciting projects. The result will be transformative for the School of Music—creating a learning and performing environment for the 21st Century. I’m so pleased that all of us, the students, faculty and staff, will be a part of it.
For potential students, please look at the Penn State School of Music and consider visiting the University Park Campus. We encourage students to take advantage of coaching lessons by our artist faculty and to sit in on ensemble rehearsals. This helps to establish your vision on where your music home will be for the next four years.
Penn State is a destination university for research and creative activities. The School of Music faculty and students partner with artists and researchers in many disciplines; bridging the arts and making music even more relevant in the sciences and humanities. As an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music, we strive to develop quality and innovative programing for our students.
