For full consideration for all Penn State scholarships, undergraduate applicants should submit their application prior to November 30 and audition on or before January 30, 2021.
Incoming Freshmen and Transfer Applicants
There is a four-step application process:
1. Apply for admission online through the Common Application, the Coalition Application, or Penn State’s own application.
2. Schedule your audition by completing the online scheduling form. Those intending the composition or music techonology major should use the composition and music technology online scheduling form. Do not wait to hear from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions before scheduling.
4. Complete an audition/interview with faculty.
Change of Major
Currently enrolled Penn State students wishing to change their major need not reapply to the university. Students may schedule an audition (see step 2 above) and complete an audition/interview with the faculty.
Currently enrolled Penn State students applying for the music performance and jazz studies minors need only to schedule an audition (see step 2 above) and to complete an audition/interview with the faculty.
Transfer applicants for all undergraduate degree programs must audition as part of their application. Applicants for fall admission are encouraged to follow the procedures above to schedule an audition. Applicants for spring admission should arrange individual auditions.
Students pursuing advanced standing in a music degree curriculum should be successfully progressing through a music degree at an accredited institution. Those enrolled in a degree program other than music should expect to begin their music studies at the freshman level.
