Members of the Penn State Concert Choir are about to embark on an experience they will never forget. The Concert Choir has been invited to sing in concert with the iconic rock group The Rolling Stones during their June 20 ZIP CODE Tour stop at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. Twenty-four choir members will travel from State College to take part in this once-in-a-lifetime experience.Kiver related that, while the possibility of singing with a rock band is extraordinarily unusual for a classically-trained ensemble like the Concert Choir, the opportunity to appear with a legendary group like the Stones was simply too appealing to pass up. It will also mean a little extra work for the Concert Choir members, since the concert occurs during their summer break.
The Concert Choir will be conducted by Christopher Kiver during their performance. He will be assisted by 2014 choir alumna Alison Geesey.
Note: The Rolling Stones’ media guidelines prohibit naming the piece to be performed in news releases regarding the choir’s appearance. Video and photography are also not permitted in rehearsals, backstage, or during the performance.
