Tuba Euphonium Ensemble to Perform at Army Band Workshop

Tuba Euphonium Ensemble

The Penn State Tuba Euphonium Ensemble will perform by invitation at the United States Army Band's Tuba-Euphonium Worskhop on January 31 at Fort Myer in Arlington County, Virginia. The ensemble is conducted by faculty member Velvet Brown. Highlighting the concert is a four-movement composition by ensemble member Drew Bonner. The euphonium quartet FivE has also been invited to give a featured performance on January 30. Members of FivE are Luke Gall, Brian Sugrue, Drew Bonner, Mitchell Mest.FiVe

The Pennsylvania State University Tuba Euphonium Ensemble, formed in the fall of 1987, has achieved success performing regionally, nationally and internationally. The group performs outstanding traditional, contemporary, and popular literature composed or transcribed for the tuba/euphonium ensemble.  This highly select ensemble is comprised of the finest euphonium and tuba players on campus by audition. The group has garnered praise for many featured international and national performances, including the CBS “Good Morning Show”, the 1995, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012 International Tuba and Euphonium Conferences, the 2011 and 2013 Northeast Tuba and Euphonium Conference, several appearances at the New York Brass Conference with featured soloists Brian Bowman and Toby Hanks, the Army Tuba Euphonium Conference with soloist Roger Behrend, the Pennsylvania Music Educator’s Conference, and with soloist Neal Corwell. The ensemble also enjoys performing for many university functions, presenting public school concerts and entertaining at various off campus venues.
