Open to high school clarinetists and saxophonists in the 11th and 12th grades for the 2018/19 academic year.

Competition Finalists will be invited to perform at the Single Reed Summit based on their performance experience and letter of recommendation. Invitation will be confirmed or declined upon receipt of application. Invited performers will compete on Saturday, Feb. 9th at 1pm for a panel of judges. (Times for competition are subject to change-please consult Single Reed Summit Website for updates)
First place High School winner will receive $500, and the runner-up will receive $100.
Finalists are welcome to bring their own accompanist or use a Penn State Single Reed Summit staff accompanist for a $25 fee. (Contestants will receive one 20-minute rehearsal with the staff accompanist either on Feb. 8 or the morning of Feb. 9)
It is recommended that students prepare a single movement of a sonata or concerto. Students will play a minimum of 8 minutes.
High School students who are minors, must be accompanied by parents/guardians or high school music teachers (when attending on a high school sanctioned field trip) at all events.
(Non-clarinetist parents attending the festival with their children but must fill out a general registration form.)
