President's Concert 2017

National Presbyterian Church, Washington, D.C.

The Penn State School of Music will present its 11th annual President's Concert on Thursday, March 16, 7:30 p.m. at the National Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C. This year's concert includes performances by the Chamber Orchestra strings conducted by Gerardo Edelstein; Essence of Joy conducted by Anthony Leach; the Graduate Brass Quintet with Alumni Fellow William Neil ('66), organ; and doctoral piano student Weiyan Li. Admission is free.

The annual President's Concert series provides an opportunity for Penn State students to present concerts in the most renowned performance venues on the East Coast. In its history, Penn State ensembles have traveled to Heinz Hall (Pittsburgh), Kennedy Center (Washington D.C.), Carnegie Hall (NY), Kimmel Center (Philadelphia), the Strathmore Centre (Bethesda, MD), and the Forum Theatre in Harrisburg, PA. This is the second time that the concert has been hosted by the National Presbyterian Church.

Prior to the concert, the Penn State Alumni Association will host a reception from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Stone Hall, located in the lower level of the National Presbyterian Church. Alumni and friends can enjoy refreshments and hors d’oeuvres while socializing with other Penn Staters. The School of Music's Graduate Woodwind Quintet will provide music for the reception.

The pre-reception cost is $25 for Alumni Association members; $40 for non-members; $15 for college students $10 for students aged 6–18; and free for children 5 and under.
