Congratulations to senior violin performance major Celeste Belknap who has been named as a recipient of an 2018 Erickson Discovery Grant. Celeste will travel to Moscow, Russia to research Nina Makarova’s "Symphony in D Minor" for her honors thesis. A violin student of James Lyon, Celeste is also pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Russian. From Clarks Summit, PA, she is the daughter of Debbie and Bryant Belknap. She recently was awarded the 2018 School of Music Director's Award, and is also the recipient of the Esber Memorial Award in Music and a School of Music general scholarship. Celeste is a member of the Philharmonic Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra, as well as the Virago String Quartet.
The University's Erickson Discovery Grants are directed to student-initiated projects in the sciences, engineering, social sciences, humanities, and arts that provide experience in all facets of the research, scholarship, or creative processes.
