John Maurer

Graduate trumpet student John Maurer has been accepted to the 2014 OperaMaya Orchestral Summer Festival, hosted in Riviera Maya, Mexico. The festival runs June 2-June 16, and offers masterclasses, daily language studies, and opportunities to work with leading professionals in public performances. The repertoire includes opera, orchestral works, and chamber music.

In addition, John has been named a semi-finalist in the 2014 National Trumpet Competition to be held March 21-23 at Messiah College in Mechanicsburg, PA.

A first-year graduate student of Langston J. Fitzerald III, John serves as a graduate teaching assistant. Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he received his bachelor's degree in music education with a concentration in trumpet from Millersville University. His previous trumpet teachers include Larry Davidson, Rex Richardson, Chris Jaudes, Dr. N. Keith Wiley, Jose Sibaja, and Wynton Marsalis.
