Laura Clapper, a graduate student of Naomi Seidman, has been named the winner of the National Flute Association's Master Class competition. She will be performing at the association's annual conference in New Orleans, LA in August 2013.
Laura received her undergraduate degree in flute performance from Penn State in 2012, when she studied with Eleanor Armstrong. A native of Sewickley, Pennsylvania, she holds a University Graduate Fellowship and teaching assistantship, and was appointed second flute/piccolo of the 2013 Penn's Woods Festival Orchestra. She is a member of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Philharmonic Orchestra, Flute Choir, and Quintessential, the school's graduate woodwind quintet. Most recently, she served as principal flute for Penn State's production of Leonard Bernstein's Mass. Laura won Graduate Jury Recognition honors in fall 2012.
