Congratulations to Penn State alumni Luke Nosal (BM performance, ‘18, PPC Orchestral Conducting ’19) will assume the role of Assistant Conductor with the Queer Urban Orchestra beginning on January 1, 2020.  Luke has served as the Music Director of the Valley Brass Band, Founder and Director of the Penn State University Reading Orchestra, and Principal Conductor of the Penn State University Horn and Cello Ensembles.  Additionally, they have served as Cover Conductor and Music Director of Opera Scenes Program for the Miami Music Festival, Cover Conductor for the Central Pennsylvania Youth Orchestra, and have guest conducted the Altoona Symphony Orchestra. 

As a conductor and queer advocate, they are known for leading ensembles with an eclectic style, dynamic interpretation, and deep passion while always using their platform to give visibility to issues in the LGBTQA community. 

The Queer Urban Orchestra is a musical organization dedicated to the promotion of fine arts in the New York City metropolitan area and whose membership is open to all adult musicians regardless of age, race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity.  QUO strives to entertain and educate members and audiences alike through performances of classical and contemporary music, promoting equality, understanding, acceptance, and respect.  For more information:
