Congratulations to Scott Atchinson (Penn State Ph.D. candidate in music education) who is a recipient of the the Harold F. Martin Graduate Assistant Outstanding Teaching Award which recognizes graduate assistants for outstanding teaching performance. The award is jointly sponsored by the Graduate School, through the Harold F. Martin Graduate Assistant Outstanding Teaching Award endowment, and the Office of the Vice President, and the Dean for Undergraduate Education.
Scott's teaching duties have included teaching a music technology course, supervising students teachers, and assisting with woodwind techniques, early field experience, cohort practicum I, and cohort practicum II.
Scott adds, "My time here at Penn State has been incredibly rewarding. I have had the opportunity to build upon previous knowledge, find new ways of thinking, develop new skills, and challenge some long held beliefs...it is clear that we are facing many questions, challenges, and changes in the near future. Moving forward, I hope to continue to explore the possibilities of teaching with technology and finding new ways to engage students in the classroom in the efforts to meet our rapidly changing world."
