The College of Arts and Architecture

American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Student Chapter

This organization is for any students interested in choral music with an emphasis on information for those who conduct or hope to conduct choral ensembles of all age groups. Occasional meetings are held throughout the semester.

The mission of the American Choral Directors Association is to inspire excellence in choral music through education, performance, composition and advocacy. The primary professional organization of the choral conducting profession, members conduct a variety of choral groups, including boychoirs, children's choirs, men's and women's choruses, junior and senior high school choirs, college and university choruses, ethnic choirs, vocal-jazz ensembles, and symphony choruses. They also conduct choirs in their communities and in their places of worship.

ACDA publishes the Choral Journal, the International Journal of Research in Choral Singing (online), and Chorteach (online), which contains practical teaching ideas for choral music educators. State, divisional, and national conferences are offered each year.

Visit the national ACDA website for more information regarding membership benefits. Contact Dr. Christopher Kiver at for further information.
