Auditionees should prepare repertoire which represents their best playing. Choose two contrasting movements or pieces that demonstrate 1) a slow, sustained, lyrical style, and 2) a technically challenging, faster paced passage. These may come from standard solo literature or from etudes.
All major scales, two or three octaves, the chromatic scale demonstrating range, and sightreading are required. Those auditioning for the Bachelor of Music degree should also perform two prepared orchestral excerpts of their choice.
