Congratulations to Marica Tacconi, whose essay about the illuminated choirbooks of Florence Cathedral (Il Duomo) was published in the new book Make a Joyful Noise: Renaissance Art and Music at Florence Cathedral (Gary M. Radke, ed.; Yale University Press). The volume was released in November 2014. Click to see the preview about this exciting addition to Italian Renaissance scholarship.
Professor Tacconi also worked closely with an international team in planning the book's related art and music exhibition, on display at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Georgia (October 25, 2014-January 11, 2015) and then at the Detroit Institute of Arts (February 6-May 17, 2015). The exhibition includes marble carvings by sculptor Luca della Robbia and several illuminated manuscripts from the collection of lavish choirbooks from Florence cathedral.
